Sue Jiang is a Senior Accountant and a part of Ecovis Clark Jacobs since June 2020. When Sue first joined ECJ she had just moved from Melbourne to Sydney. Living in a new city didn\u2019t change Sue\u2019s objectives \u2013 progressing her career was still important to her. Thereby, her recruiter helped her find a role that was the right fit. Her main requirements for a new job in Sydney? A good work-life-balance, a respectful culture and a respectful environment. \u201cECJ offered me all those things plus an easy commute and great views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House,\u201d Sue happily says.<\/p>\n
But let\u2019s start from the beginning\u2026Sue decided to become an accountant when she moved from China to Australia, realising there was much more to accounting than she had thought. \u201cThe job is not only about numbers, but about the human connection as well. We are service providers who want to make our clients feel happy, comfortable, and secure when it comes to their finances. They really NEED us and what makes the clients happy also makes me happy!\u201d, Sue enthuses about her job.<\/p>\n
Apart from caring deeply about the clients, ECJ also cares a lot about staff development and growth. That\u2019s particularly brought forward within the teams. Emma, the manager of Sue\u2019s team, places great emphasis on team members having personalities which work well together. This plays an important part in communicating effectively and working more efficiently. Even when there are challenges, Sue always feels supported at work: \u201cThe tax system comprises so many things and special cases that you simply cannot know everything about. However, Emma and Heath always give helpful advice based on their long-standing experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n
As taxes can be rather complicated and you always need to be focused, Sue appreciates one thing at ECJ in particular \u2013 everyone shares a love of chocolate! \u201cIt\u2019s scientifically proven that chocolate makes you think better, so it\u2019s a great thing that there\u2019s always something sweet around!\u201d, she laughs.<\/p>\n
Even though Sue loves her job, she makes sure that the \u201clife\u201d part in her work-life-balance is also a priority. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with her two dogs, driving to quiet places like the blue mountains, and cooking (preferably pasta) dishes to allow herself some well-deserved \u201cme-time\u201d. Finding time for that is not an issue, as ECJ strongly encourages all staff to prioritise their own happiness, as well as their clients.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
